The customer problem

Renovations leave three-gang boxes with one live device and two openings nobody needs anymore. Standard three-gang plates do not match that combination, so the wall ends up with mismatched plates or an open hole.

The ABC approach

A single moulded plastic plate combining one decorator opening and two blanks in the standard 6.75 in. × 4.5 in. format, reversible so the same part works on either side of the box.

This combination plate covers a three-gang box where only one device is in use. The decorator opening fits rocker switches, Decora receptacles, GFCI outlets, double rocker switches and slide dimmers, while the two blank sections cover unused or abandoned openings. Moulded in impact-resistant white plastic — never metal — it will not rust, corrode or conduct, and its smooth matte face resists fingerprints and cleans with a damp cloth. The plate is fully reversible: rotate it 180° to place the opening on the left or the right. Mounting screws are included and finished to match the plate.

Installation overview

Turn off power at the panel. Remove the existing plate, position this plate over the installed device with the opening on the side you need, and secure it with the included screws. Do not overtighten. Electrical work must be performed by a qualified person in accordance with local requirements.
